Hi I’m Hayley. I’m a freelance UX/UI Instructor at Love Circular. By day I work as part of a University Research team, focused on creating international collaboration within the video game industry in the UK and China.
I have worked in the creative industries for 10 years, starting out in Graphic Design before moving into UI and UX Design. I have worked on a variety of products, from apps, websites, games and magazine publishing.
My best job to date was working as a UI/UX Designer at Gameloft Toronto. I worked within an amazing multicultural team and I was even allowed to bring my dog to work.
My early career opportunities were fairly limited and when I was younger I spent a lot of time doing unrewarding work which I didn’t enjoy. It took me a while to course correct, but in my late 20’s I found my path into design by taking night classes and working on skills development outside my 9-5 job.
In many of the organisations I’ve worked for, there is still a stark lack of diversity and gender imbalance. I am fully aligned with Love Circular’s mission to create a more diverse and inclusive design society for the future and to create opportunities for underrepresented groups.
For anyone who has an interest in UX/UI Design, I would highly recommend it. The work is both interesting and challenging and there is always something new to learn!
When I’m not at my desk I can usually be found out in the hills with my dog Thistle. We go for lots of adventures around Scotland, where Thistle likes to make friends with everyone she meets (human or animal).
I love all of the movies from the Marvel Universe. I find they are a great escape from everyday life. I love the world building and how everything within the Universe fits together.
